If the ABAWD doesn’t find employment within the 30-day period, they must be placed in a Workfare activity at a work site. However, do not apply a strike during this period of activity unless the ABAWD falls below 12 hours per month of participation. Agencies have discretion to assign more than the minimum 12 hours during the 30-day period. The ABAWD must be assigned a minimum of 12 hours per month of employment search activity to meet the ABAWD requirements. Enter the Weathercloud ID and the Key provided for your device. In this instance, the activity should be posted in CARES as Workfare (WX).ĭuring that 30-day period where an ABAWD may do employment search instead of workfare, the ABAWD is not limited to the Workfare participation formula. Open UnderTheWX and click on Preferences. This is the ONLY time an ABAWD can participate in stand-alone Employment Search. However, when an ABAWD is assigned to Workfare at the time of enrollment, it is understood that it may take an agency a week or two for the worksite activity to begin.Īn ABAWD assigned to a Workfare placement at the time of Enrollment can participate in Employment Search as their only activity for the first 30 days of the Workfare placement, or until the participant begins at the worksite, whichever comes first.

The Workfare hours meet the ABAWD Participation Requirements.Īccording to ABAWD policy, an ABAWD must start assigned activities immediately after enrollment. The WP case manager also assigns 16 hours of job readiness/motivation activities and 6 hours of employment search activities. Based upon his FS allotment, he is assigned to 5 hours per week of Workfare ($162 ¸ $6.50 ¸ 4.3= 5.8 rounded down to 5 hours per week). Additionally, to satisfy the ABAWD Participation Requirements, ABAWDs must be assigned to Workfare for the number of hours calculated by this formula.ĪBAWDs should be assigned other activity, such as employment search or job readiness/motivation, in addition to the Workfare assignment to meet the FSET requirement of 27 hours per week.Įxample 1: Sam is an ABAWD and is assigned to Workfare. ABAWDs should not be left in a Workfare placement indefinitely.ĪBAWDs cannot be assigned more hours per month in the workfare activity/component than their monthly FoodShare allotment divided by minimum wage (currently $5.85). A Workfare placement should be evaluated on a regular basis.
#UNDERTHEWX CODE#
Since there isn’t a Workfare component code in CARES, workers must record Workfare as work experience, using the WX code. A component specific to the ABAWD population is Workfare.
